Year 6 Term 2
My high school offers transition lessons for our local primary school. Every Tuesday afternoon, our local primary school brings over their Year 6 students. The students are split off into groups to try a few taster classes. It helps prepare them for high school as they learn about the school structure and routines. Inside my classroom, they have been working together to make the 'What Lifts You' mural. Every student contributes by making a feather design.
Year 7 Term 1
Every year we start off with a Self-portrait unit with the Year 7 students. I decided to spice things up and use Snapchat filters on my students. We used the dog filter on Snapchat as it still allowed a reasonable amount of realism to be portrayed in their artworks. Students' artworks are now on display in the CAPA corridors.

Students are now working on their ‘Plants and Insects’ unit. Here are some progress photos.
Year 9 / 10 Term 1
Students completed their 'Environmental Art' theme project. They focused on an issue that they were passionate about, for example, urban sprawl, air pollution and deforestation.
Year 9 / 10 Term 2
Students are learning about 'Street Art'. They are working on creating graffiti design and stencils based on a social issue. Students are considering 'Does Street Art have its place in the art world?' They have been given old pieces of furniture to create their designs on. Students have also been given safety lessons on how to correctly use a scalpel knife and spray can. They created a quick stencil based on their initials to understand the processes involved.

Year 11 Term 1
Students created three artworks based on one sentimental object. They had the freedom to choose their own technique and material. Some lessons involved researching, drawing in their Visual Arts Journal or getting hands on with their project. Here are some examples:

Year 11 Term 2
Students are following a 'Portrait' theme and exploring different mediums. During theory lessons, they have been analysing artworks by other artists and attempting exam papers. They have also engaged in speed dating exercises for students to receive constructive feedback (both pros and cons) about their 'Portraits' artworks in 5 mins increments from different classmates. The conversations have inspired and uplifted a lot of students, giving them confidence and ideas to explore
