Embrace the value of Art There seems to be an increased misunderstanding that 'Art is easy' or 'I am entitled to a higher mark because it is just Art'. Moving up Bloom's Taxonomy: This makes me revisit the taxonomy pyramid created by Benjamin Bloom. His pyramid has influenced many educators. Higher order skills are placed at the top of the pyramid and by looking at his diagram below we can see that 'creating' is placed at the top.  Visual Arts is a subject where it requires students to   create   their own artworks and explain/communicate how they did it. This subject provides activities that help engage students to higher order thinking.  His pyramid is also a great way of scaffolding activities in the art classroom. Facebook groups

I love blogging and it has been quite addictive. It is a great way to sit back and reflect on what is working and what needs improvement. Since making this blog (early this year), I have been interested in DIY projects and creating resources that help tackle/prevent issues from arising in my classroom. I have improved with my classroom management skills and resource making skills. Students respect the classroom space as there are structures and routines in place. They can see that I take pride in my classroom space and thus, they also respect the space more. My passion for teaching is getting stronger. It is my fifth year teaching and I feel like there is so much to learn and do! Today, I plan to share a list of Facebook groups that I follow and some of the places where I contribute ideas and resources. Latest updates Above: My personal assistant.  Above: The process of making everything requires patience. My dog is clearly displaying this. Above: I had an idea about a wall where students can grab post notes and write happy thoughts or a compliment to one another. I am trying to keep to my 'kindness' theme. The letters were simply made by cutting it out of different coloured A4 paper and laminating it in an A3 pouch. Above: I made a background to match my door display.
